From next term, students in Y7 – 10 will be expected to do a minimum of 20 minutes of silent reading in their English lessons every week.
Therefore, we would like students – with the support of their parents and carers – to use half term to find a book which interests them. This can be fiction or non-fiction, or they could also bring in a magazine or newspaper.
Two excellent websites are: https://www.lovereading4kids.co.uk and https://schoolreadinglist.co.uk/ – both of these websites include reading lists for each age range and genre.
Students could also join their local library free of charge to borrow a wide range of books. You can find information about this here: Library Membership Leaflet
