Wizard of Oz provides show-stopping end to the year

Two magical performances of the Wizard of Oz ensured we ended the academic year in show-stopping style.

The show was one of the most ambitions performed at St Aldhelm’s for years and show just how far we have come as an academy.

More than 30 talented students from years 7 to 10 were in the cast and more helped backstage with props, make-up and lighting. It was a real team effort under the guidance of Mrs King, Mrs Coyne and Mrs Hanwell.

Auditions started seven months ago on January and students’ efforts were rewarded with standing ovations at the end of both magical performances.

We would like to thank everyone who took part in the show and all those who came to watch and support the students. Special thanks must go to sound engineer Ian Hick and also to Kim Kirk and Sue Frost who, along with their sewing group, made countless costumes for us.
