Year 7 students were joined in the classroom by birds of prey, reptiles and insects as we marked British Science Week 2017.
We welcomed Zoolab and Liberty’s Centre to St Aldhelm’s Academy to host some special workshops for Year 7 students.
Students were able to get up close and personal with a corn snake, a tarantula, a hermit crab, stick insect and a rat in the Zoolab session, while the Liberty’s workshop included two different breeds of owl, a peregrine falcon and a Harris hawk.
It was a fantastic end to British Science Week, which has also seen students conduct fun experiments and quizzes. Even staff were included in the fun, with an ear-splitting demonstration of a methane rocket in staff briefing.
