We were delighted to welcome Rebecca Clark, the new Regional Schools Commissioner for the South West, to St Aldhelm’s Academy and show her the massive improvements that have taken place.
Rebecca, who has only recently taken on the role of Regional Schools Commissioner, met students and visited lessons during a tour of the academy with Principal Sian Thomas and Ambitions Academies’ Trust CEO Brian Hooper.
Afterwards, she tweeted: “Inspiring to spend time this morning in a transformed academy, thanks to everyone for making me feel so welcome!”
Her predecessor Sir David Carter, who is now the National Schools Commissioner for England, had previously taken a keen interest in St Aldhelm’s progress and had also praised the improvements made under the Ambitions Academies’ Trust. After our ‘Good’ Ofsted rating was made public, he tweeted: “Stunning transformation led by the brilliant Ambitions Academies Trust, one of our best sponsors and MATS in the SW.”
