Academy teams up with Jon Egging Trust to help students fly high

St Aldhelm’s Academy has teamed up with the Jon Egging Trust to ensure that disadvantaged young people are inspired to reach their full potential.

The Academy is delighted to be part of the Jon Egging Trust’s Blue Skies Programme, which will offer 15 pupils the opportunity to broaden their horizons and develop vital life and work skills.

The Trust was launched following the tragic death of Red Arrows pilot Flt Lt Jon Egging at the Bournemouth Air Festival in 2011.

It supports young people who find themselves in difficult circumstances, helping them to overcome adversity and achieve their full potential.

A total of 15 pupils, primarily from Year 9 but also some from Year 8, will take part in the Blue Skies Programme between February and July this year.

They will enjoy a range of visits and activities linked to aviation, engineering and science but all designed to boost their confidence, enhance their presentational skills and inspire them to think about their futures.

Kaye Jackson, the Trust’s Youth Liaison Officer for Dorset, said: “The difference that we see in the young people we work with is remarkable.

“It is all about inspiring them to believe in themselves and helping them to achieve their goals.”
