Enterprising Year 8 and 9 students put their science and business skills to the test designing their own range of scientifically-proven soaps.
A team from Bournemouth University visited St Aldhelm’s Academy to help young pupils discover the science behind soap.
The STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) days saw students tasked to create a range of soaps, come up with a brand name and design an effective marketing campaign.
John Baxter, of the STEM team, said: “These fun science workshops are designed to encourage more people into science and we’ve been really impressed with the way St Aldhelm’s pupils approached the task.
“They all worked really well as a team and they have come up with some really inventive ideas.”
Year 9 pupil Maisie Kirk said: “It was really fun and different and it’s great to be able to take our soaps home.
“I’ve learned a lot about the soap and the science behind it.”
