Barclay’s Life Skills visit
Year 10 and 11 students were visited by Billie Dunne from Barclay’s Life Skills programme on Thursday 24th September. Billie shared her inspirational life story to date from her upbringing in Croydon to volunteering in Mexico. She initially found school challenging but in her determination to support best friend Sophie with her struggle with cancer she developed a can do attitude. Unfortunately Sophie passed away in 2007 but Billie has subsequently gone on to raise over £40,000 for Teenage Cancer Trust.
Year 10 & 11 students were suitably moved by Billie presentation and gave a heartfelt round of applause. Several students were keen to meet Billie afterwards and discuss confidence building strategies.
Students St Aldhelm’s will continue to benefit from opportunities offered by the Barclay’s Life Skills programme.
